ELLISVILLE – The Mildred C. McKellar Memorial Scholarship was recently established at the Jones County Junior College Foundation, Inc. by Robert E. “Bob” McKellar in memory of his wife.  This scholarship fund was established to help deserving students from the Hattiesburg area.

Whitney Walton, a JCJC freshman who graduated from Oak Grove High School received the Mildred C. McKellar Memorial Scholarship for the 2010-2011 academic year.  Whitney is a graphic design/photo journalism major who loves art, singing in her church choir, and playing in the JCJC Maroon Typhoon Band.

When the scholarship recipient was announced, Whitney said, “It is my honor to represent Mrs. Mildred McKellar as the first recipient of her scholarship.”
