Forrest General Offers Free Prostate Cancer Screenings TODAY

HATTIESBURG – According to the American Cancer Society, prostate cancer is the most common type of cancer, other than skin cancer, and the second leading cause of cancer death in American men. The American Cancer Society estimates that one in six men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime, and one in 35 will die from it.

Forrest General Hospital is encouraging men to take action for their health by offering free prostate cancer screenings at the Forrest General Cancer Center, located at 301 South 28th Avenue, on Thursday, September 23 from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.

This screening is for men age 50 and above who have not had an exam or PSA in the past two years. If you have a family history or have questions about whether you may need this screening, please call FGH OnCall at 1-800-844-4445 and press 1 from 2 – 10 p.m., 7 days a week. For those who participate in this screening, a signed work excuse slip will be provided.
