Offense

Kelvin Bolden, WR, 6-0, 171, Jr., Ocean Springs, Miss.

Bolden tallied season-highs in catches (eight) and reception yardage (154) in the Golden Eagles’ win over Memphis. One of his catches was a 28-yard touchdown reception early in the fourth quarter. He helped Southern Miss jump out to an early lead by registering five catches for 105 yards in the opening quarter. His reception total also included grabs of 47 and 41 yards. It was his first 100-yard receiving game and second for the Golden Eagles in 2010. His reception yards rank as the 11th highest for a game in school history.

Defense

Korey Williams, LB, 6-2, 243, r-Jr., New Orleans, La.

Williams participated in six of the Golden Eagles’ 44 total tackles against Memphis. Five of his tackles were solos, and he added a sack for seven yards and 1.5 TFLs for eight yards. The captain of the Golden Eagle defense helped limit UM to 32 yards rushing – the fewest surrendered by the Eagles this season – and just 3-of-12 on third-down conversions. His biggest tackle of the game on a 3rd-and-1 play in the third quarter in which he stopped the Tigers for no gain and made UM settle for a field goal. On UM’s last scoring drive, Williams  finished his day with a sack on 3rd-and-12 to make UM have to kick another field goal.

Special Teams

Peter Boehme, P, 5-11, 222, So., Birmingham, Ala.

Registered four punts for a 44.2 yard average and did not have one returned in the contest. Boehme booted his longest punt of 51 yards in the contest, notching his second 50-plus yard punt of the season. It was the third game this season the Golden Eagles did not surrender any punt return yardage.

Notes
* Southern Miss scored at least 40 points for the third straight game and for the fourth time this season in its win over Memphis. USM has now also scored 40 or more points in six of its last eight league games.

* The Golden Eagles got off to another fast start against UM on Saturday with 17 first-quarter points. USM has scored at least 14 points in the first quarter four times this season and have outscored its opponent 81-16 in the opening period.

* Junior place kicker Danny Hrapmann had two field goal attempts hit the crossbar on Saturday, and unfortunately for USM, the second one bounced off no good which snapped the kicker’s consecutive field goals made streak at 17. Hrapmann still leads the country in field goals per game at 2.29.

* Redshirt freshman Kendrick Hardy recorded the team’s first 100-yard rushing game of the season with 101 yards on 11 carries, including the longest offensive play of the season for the Golden Eagles of 59 yards on the ground for a touchdown in the fourth quarter. It is the first 100-yard rushing game for the school since Damion Fletcher had 136 yards on the ground against Houston last season.

* USM’s defense held its opponent to under 100 yards rushing for the fourth-straight game and fifth overall. As a result, they currently rank No. 5 in rushing defense in the FBS and No. 12 in total defense.

* The Golden Eagles are now 13-0 under Fedora when they hold their opponent s to under 20 points.

* Southern Miss finished a five-game span of playing programs with first-year coaches against UM and went 4-1 over that stretch.

* The team will enjoy its off week, before returning to action at home against UAB, Oct. 30, in an 11 a.m. contest.

Collins led the team in tackles for the second consecutive week with seven, including three solos and four assists. He added a half sack and a half TFL, while tallying a 32-yard interception return for a touchdown. It was his first INT for a score and second career touchdown, after returning a fumble 16 yards against Tulane last season. Helped the Golden Eagles limit ECU to 33-yards on the ground.

Special Teams

Danny Hrapmann, PK, 5-9, 160, r-Jr., New Orleans, La.

Hrapmann collected a school-record five field goals, hitting them from 28, 39, 39, 49 and 49 yards. He has now converted 16-straight field goal attempts dating back to the New Orleans Bowl last season. He have made 10 of his 14 field goals this season from 30-yards or farther and five 40-yards or farther. He added a 19-yard run on a fake punt late in the game to keep a drive alive. He added four extra points and has now converted all 19 extra point tries this season. He ranks No. 1 in the country in field goals and No. 17 nationally in scoring (10.2 ppg).

Notes
* The Golden Eagles had an 11-game home winning streak as well as a streak of nine homecoming victories snapped in its loss Saturday versus East Carolina.

* The squad registered its second non-offensive touchdown of the season and sixth of the Fedora era when Jamie Collins returned an interception 32 yards for a score to give the Golden Eagles a late advantage.

* Southern Miss has limited its opponents to under 100 yards in each of the last three games and four times during the year. It was the first time in 14 games under Fedora that USM lost when they have done that. The 33 yards ECU gained on the ground is the fewest Southern Miss has surrendered this season.

* In a series that has seen wild games over the 36-game history, the 2010 version will add to that list in which saw a tie for the most points in a game (87), tying the 1988 contest in which the Golden Eagles won 45-42 in Greenville.  It was also the 14th time that a game has been decided by seven or fewer points with the Golden Eagles holding an 8-6 mark in those games.

* It was the first time the Golden Eagles have lost to ECU in consecutive games since the 1994-95 seasons.

* The Golden Eagles finish a five-game stretch this week in which the play programs with first-year head coaches. Southern Miss is 3-1 over this span.

* USM and UM meet for the 71st time on the gridiron Saturday and the Golden Eagles snapped a two-game losing streak to the Tigers last season with a 36-16 decision in Hattiesburg.

* The UM game marks the first of four-straight day games for Southern Miss, after playing the first six at night.
