Spirit of Women presents first session in new Passionate for Parties series

HATTIESBURG- Forrest General’s Spirit of Women is launching a new event series designed to inspire passion in women of all ages – passion for parties, health and life itself! Attendees will join local experts Catherine Strange and John David Williams in learning how to throw the best party of the season – in any season!

The first session, to be held on February 1, is titled “For the Love of Valentine’s and Mardi Gras!” and will get attendees excited about these holidays that fall early in the year. Learn great tips for hosting Valentine’s parties or celebrations for two and get a head start on the Mardi Gras season with fun party ideas and beautiful Mardi Gras ball gown modeling from Occasions! Attendees will also learn more about living a heart-healthy lifestyle with cardiologist Tom Messer, M.D., in recognition of February, which is National Heart Month!

This event, as well as all events in this series will be held from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Canebrake Country Club in Hattiesburg, and lunch will be served. Cost to attend each event is $15 for Spirit of Women members and $25 for non-members.

l present “Decorating Your Home For The Harvest!” offering helpful hints for harvest decorating, just in time for fall! This is the third event in the popular “Fearless Entertaining For The Holidays” – an exciting series providing tips on being fearless with holiday entertaining, as well as being fearless about your health by taking control before health issues arise.

Due to the overwhelming success of this series, Spirit of Women is offering an additional “Decorating Your Home For The Harvest” session at an earlier time on October 5, to accommodate those who have not yet registered for the sold out event.

This session will feature the same information as the regular 11:30 session, but will be held at 10 a.m. and a light breakfast will be served. This session represents Step 3 in the Fearless approach to the holidays, offering beautiful fall decorating for Halloween and Thanksgiving that will transition easily from fall to the New Year.

Also, make plans to join Spirit of Women, Catherine Strange and John David Williams for other upcoming series events, including the November 2 session “Holiday Food, Friends and Fun for All Ages!” and the December 7 session “The Fearless Holiday Finale!” While both of the original session times for these events are also sold out, alternate sessions are also being held for these events on the same dates at earlier times. The events are based on the Fearless Entertaining books by Strange and Williams, who will offer informative sessions to help attendees avoid the stress that often comes with the holiday season!

Spirit of Women presents first series event that encourages Pine Belt women to focus on the Beautiful Basics of life!

Forrest General’s Spirit of Women is hosting the first session in a special series of events that will offer opportunities for attendees to renew their focus on the beautiful basics of life, such as music, art, reading and enjoying the comforts of home. These sessions will also remind attendees to keep the BASICS of their health under control and always a priority!

Session One: “Annie Glass, Pottery, Pewter, Oh My!,” will feature guest speakers Gail Albert and Tinkye Cooper of “A Gallery” and creators of the Fearless Entertaining book series Catherine Strange and John David Williams. Attendees will learn about the basics of serving and entertaining pieces and how to introduce tradition yet enjoy versatility in their own home.

Forrest General’s Spirit of Women is teaming up with local experts Catherine Strange and John David Williams for an exciting series that will provide tips on how to be fearless with holiday entertaining, as well as being fearless about health by taking control. The events are based on the Fearless Entertaining books by Strange and Williams, who will offer informative sessions to help attendees avoid the stress that often comes with the holiday season! The first session, “Get Ready, Get Set, Relax!,” will be held on Tuesday, August 24 and offer information about how to get organized to assure an enjoyable and stress-free holiday season. Scott Hambleton, M.D., of Pine Grove, will talk with attendees about removing the stress of the holidays. This first event in the series is already sold out and promises to be a great kickoff event for the series!

The event will be held at the Canebrake Country Club at 11:30am.

October 20, 2010 from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Hattiesburg Country Club

In this session, special guest George Bassi of the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art will discuss knowing the beautiful basics of art and how to surround yourself and your home with pieces you love. Whether you have collected art for years, want to learn more about art or introduce someone to art this session is for you.

Session Three: “The Magic of Music”

November 10, 2010 from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Hattiesburg Country Club

Join special guests Jay Dean and Mike Lopinto from the University of Southern Mississippi Department of Music, along with a quartet of musicians to learn about the beautiful basics of music and how it moves our soul and makes us dance. Learn what our area has to offer and how using music as a theme can turn your event into one of inspiration.

Session Four: “The Well-Read Home”

January 12, 2011 from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Hattiesburg Country Club

Join Donna Davis of the Hattiesburg Library to learn about the beautiful basics of the literary classics from Emily Dickinson to Beatrix Potter. Attendees will learn how to determine the best loved books for you and for your family….adults, teens and children.

Session Five: “Incredible Interiors”

February 9, 2011 from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Hattiesburg Country Club

Learn from Ellen McKenzie of McKenzie’s on Main and John David Williams about the basics of home furnishings and antiques, as well as what to look for at auctions!

Session Six: “Garden Gorgeous”

March 9, 2011 from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Hattiesburg Country Club

Thomas H. Eaves, Registered Landscape Architect, will offer interesting information on how to keep your garden looking gorgeous year round. Green thumb not required!

Session Seven: “Fashion Forever”

April 13, 2011 from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Hattiesburg Country Club

Learn about the newest trends and hottest looks for women of all ages, as well as tips on how to stay fashionably fabulous without breaking the bank from local personality Chalie Ray and Phillip Pitts, owner of Parris Jewelers.
