Wesley Employees Raise Money for Breast Cancer Awareness

Hattiesburg, MS – October proved to be an exciting month of fund raising for breast cancer awareness at Wesley Medical Center.

Wesley employees and community members raised over $5,800 for the American Cancer Society through a month full activities and events.

“We are so grateful for the time and hard work Wesley put into these activities,” says ACS Coordinator Kelly Ellis. “We are inspired by their dedication to this worthy cause.”

Through five separate events employees were able to raise money for and awareness about the disease while creating a festive and energetic atmosphere at the hospital.

A total $2,100 was raised for the ACS 2nd Annual Making Strides Walk t-shirts, which took place on October 23. Wesley employees also raised $1,600 during the annual Go Bald for a Cause event, over $500 with the bake auction and pumpkin-decorating contest, and over $1,600 through the Oak Grove High School senior art auction.

“It’s amazing to see the community come together to raise money for this cause, given these tough economic times,” Ellis said. “We are truly blessed to work in a community with such generosity.”
